Mixing Metals 101

We love mixing metals for our jewellery, it’s an easy way to refresh a tired looking stack. Bringing in a contrast colour of silver if you’re usually a gold wearer will make your signature stack feel like new, without needing to add lots of new layers. Here’s what we think about when mixing our metals, the easy way to explore the trend.

Sculptural Stacking

You can lean into mixing metals with rings and bracelets, a bold stack becomes fresh when you try stacking two different metals on top of each other, or on the same hand. Think statement but with an added twist. Go heavy with a few silver and a few gold, here’s our main choices for mixing metals.

Introduce Another Element

Cz stones, pearls or an enamel colour are a good way to soften the mixed metal look, it adds a new texture and cements the status that it is meant to be there. We love these pieces to slot in to a stack.

Simple Stack

If you’re not sold on the bold way of mixing of metals then you can keep it simple. Try adding one classic chain in Sterling Silver and a different classic chain in 18ct Gold Vermeil, one of each without needing to commit to layers so you can get comfortable with mixing metals. Wear these chains at different lengths (they’re adjustable!) so they have a little breathing room. A simple double up in bracelets, rings or earrings can give an impact whilst still being minimal.
